Limited demo is out! – October 17, 2007

After several months of development, we are proud to bring online a demo of the Snowball® client and protocol.

We are still looking for testers and developers to help us bring the project forward. Feel free to drop us an e-mail if you're interested.

How to use the demo:

  1. Install one of the 2 compatible clients.

Caution! Updates are regularly released; make sure your version is still current!

  2. Visit the Snowball® demo store. The online demo store shows what a hypothetical Snowball®-enabled download site might look like.
  3. Click on the item you want to purchase, then start the download. If you are familiar with BitTorrent clients, this should be pretty straightforward.

Caution: at this time, only the Linux kernel download (from the Games & Software section) is permanently seeded.

  4. Download your file(s) using the Snowball client of your choice.

A Statistics section, showing the activity of each visitor, will be added later, as development permits.

About the Snowball® project

Snowball® is a novel distributed hosting service currently under development. Designed for the specific needs of legal download services, Snowball® provides an open, secure, traceable environment for the distribution of large files – such as movies, games or software – on the Internet.

Snowball® is an open network. Snowball® users may use any compatible software to use the network. The authors of Snowball®-compatible clients are compensated everytime their software is used to download a file. Please hop to the Snowball Networks Developer Center or e-mail us at developers@snowballnetworks.com for more information.
